The main island of Sumbawa is dominated by a string of majestic volcanoes, with the highest peak being Mount Tambora. Volcanic activity has created a dramatic landscape with deep valleys, steep cliffs, and rocky shorelines at the northern part. The scenery is one of lush green tropical islands and majestic volcanoes.
