ABOUT VELA

Vela was conceived for modern day adventurers and experiential travelers eager to explore the most remote corners of the Indonesian archipelago. With 6 luxury staterooms accommodating up to 12 guests, Vela is perfectly suited for families and groups of friends. Blending the best of adventure, refinement and safety, Vela seeks to redefine barefoot luxury by sailing off the beaten path and crafting lasting bespoke memories.

Luxury Afloat: Explore Indonesia in Style with Vela
Step into a world where tradition meets modern luxury aboard Vela, a stunning wooden phinisi yacht meticulously handcrafted in Indonesia. At 164 feet long and one of the largest phinisis on the water, Vela embodies the essence of old-world charm fused seamlessly with contemporary comforts, promising an unforgettable journey through the breathtaking Indonesian archipelago.

Vela is the result of meticulous Sulawesi craftsmanship and visionary design. Commissioned by Dimitri Tran and Adrien Porter, the masterminds behind the esteemed Nirjhara eco-hotel in Bali, Vela stands as a symbol of sustainable luxury on the seas. Inspired by their passion for exploration and commitment to excellence, Tran and Porter embarked on a journey to create a yacht that redefines opulence while honoring Indonesia’s rich maritime heritage.

Interiors are refined and contemporary. Dining is in the formal indoor salon or outdoors on the main deck. The wall art is a collaboration with three of Indonesia’s leading contemporary galleries.

Vela is not totally reliant on engine power, with Vela’s almost 7,000 square feet of sails are more than just decoration and the boat can move under sail.

LIFE ONBOARD
From the sprawling deck spaces to the intimate lounges, Vela offers a sanctuary where guests can unwind and embrace the beauty of their surroundings. With a dedicated crew of 18, including expert mixologists and yoga instructors, every aspect of your voyage is meticulously curated to ensure unparalleled comfort and relaxation. Enjoy a massage, make use of the gym, or enjoy a sunset drink from the wine cellar in one of the indoor or outdoor dining areas.

Vela’s diving facilities are designed to cater to divers of all levels. Qualified dive instructors are trained to help beginners achieve their PADI certification onboard and a nitrox compressor allows experienced divers to make the most of each dive and shorten surface intervals.

Crafted at The Retreat by Nirjhara exclusively for Vela, the menu of complimentary spa treatments uses all-natural products from the archipelago to satisfy the most demanding guests.

A wide array of wellness activities is available onboard, including yoga and sunrise meditation on Vela’s top deck or on the beach, and a complete range of fitness equipment including adjustable weights, resistance bands and TRX allows even the most active to stay in shape while at anchor.

ACCOMMODATION
Whether you retreat to the expansive master suite or one of the generously sized guest cabins, you’ll find yourself enveloped in an oasis of tranquility. Discover unparalleled luxury in Vela’s six sumptuously appointed staterooms, where every detail is crafted to perfection. Adorned with hand-woven textiles, Italian linens, and Balinese ceramics, each cabin is a harmonious blend of sophistication and comfort, offering a peaceful haven after a day of adventure. Fabrics are hand-dyed with plant-based indigo dye from East Bali, and Italian fabrics from Hermès and Dedar Milano add an extra touch of elegance. Vela adopts a zero-plastic policy on board. Guests will find only glass bottles; palm-oil-free, reef-safe toiletries and sunscreen; and reverse-osmosis-filtered drinking water.

DINING
Indulge your senses with exquisite dining experiences curated by Vela’s masterful culinary team. From gourmet feasts served al fresco to intimate dinners in the formal salon or beaching dining with your feet in the sand, every meal aboard Vela is a celebration of Indonesian flavors and global cuisine. Using fresh ingredients sourced from local markets and fishermen, the executive chef and his team reinterpret local and Western favourites. Savor the freshest seafood, tantalizing spices, and locally sourced ingredients. Vela’s team can cater for dietary restrictions and menus may be tailored upon request to accommodate personal preferences.

FACILITIES
Wherever they sail, travellers can make the most of the crystalline waters with liquid thrills such as water-skiing and wakeboarding, kayaking, surfing and stand-up paddle boarding, riding the waves on our jet skis or marveling at the underwater world with the Seabobs. Whether our guests wish to surf secluded breaks or bask in the sunset while kayaking in a sheltered lagoon, Vela is equipped with state of the art water sports gear for all occasions. Note that some equipment can only be used outside of the National Parks and dedicated Marine Sanctuaries.
