Spice Islands

The Maluku archipelago, also known as the Spice Islands, are a hidden gem in eastern Indonesia that promises to enchant you with its unique blend of natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and exotic flavors. Located in the Banda Sea, between the islands of Sulawesi and Papua, over 1000 islands make up the archipelago including the Banda Islands, Kai Islands, Tanimbar Islands, and Leti Islands.

Nestled in the centre of the archipelago are The Banda Islands, a group of ten small volcanic islands that were once the world’s only source of nutmeg and mace. The islands played a significant role in the spice trade history during the most prosperous years of Dutch, English and Portuguese colonization.
