The island is subdivided into seven provinces —North Sumatra (Sumatera Utara), Jambi, Riau, West Sumatra (Sumatera Barat), South Sumatra (Sumatera Selatan), Bengkulu, and Lampung, and Aceh. Travelers head to Bukit Lawang and Toba Lake, but there is so much more to see.
